The Volta Regional House of Chiefs congratulated Torgbui Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State and owner of Africa World Airline (AWA), on a successful test flight from Accra to Ho Airport on Thursday, April 15.
The event was conceived and conducted with the able cooperation of their own son Torgbui Afede, who they were told was the co-pilot on the said flight from Accra to the native country, Ho, according to a statement signed by Togbui Tepre Hodo IV, President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs.
It said that the House hopes, through fervent prayers, that this is a symbol of the region’s opening up.
He went on to say that supporting the Ho airport would help the region and the country as a whole develop and expand.
“The Volta Regional House of Chiefs wishes to commend and thank Dr Yaw Archibald Yao Letsa, the Volta regional leader, and the Nana Addo NPP-led government for their support for the laudable initiative,” it added.
The chiefs hope that, in addition to Kotoka International Airport, the Ho airport will be seriously regarded as an alternate arrival and departure point for flights.
Other airlines should be included to improve the Ho airport’s operations, according to their wishes.
