Three police officers from the Bono Regional Police Command have been detained at the Seikwa police station for allegedly brutalizing a 48-year-old man named Abu Mepal to death.
Following the murder, the officers in question illegally buried the dead.
They are Seikwa Police Station Officer Chief Inspector Eric Aforo and two other officers, General Corporal Williams Akussumg and General Constable Ebenezer Akuffo.
Superintendent Kennedy Adusei, the Ghana Police Service’s Bono Regional Crime Officer, told Citi News that the interdiction is to help in the investigation of the unfortunate incident.
“We have proof that the man was beaten up by the cops and illegally buried. Those suspected of being involved in this heinous crime have been sent to Sunyani on the orders of the Regional Police Command. Investigations are also underway at this time. For the time being, we have ordered the officers to stand down, which we refer to as interdiction, as part of our bosses’ interventions at National Headquarters, so they can completely assist with our investigations.”
