The Ghana Black Stars camp is in disarray following the decision of its Head Coach, C K Akonor, to fire Thomas Teye Partey, a former Atletico Madrid player who is currently an Arsenal midfielder.
According to sources, Thomas Partey, Andre Dede Ayew’s deputy captain, arrived late for their training session at the camp. He came at the team’s final training session just as they were getting set to fly to Rabat for an international friendly. This enraged the head coach, and he was fired as a result.
According to sources, despite telling the coach that he had some personal concerns, the vice Black star captain did not disclose the reasons for his departure with him.
While camping near Cape Coast in the Central area, the Black Stars were preparing for a double header against Morocco and Ivory Coast in two separate international friendly.
On Tuesday, June 8, 2021, the Black Stars went to Rabat to face the Atlas Lions of Morocco.
The Black Stars will play the Elephants of Ivory Coast in their second international friendly on Saturday, June 12 in Cape Coast.
