A student at the University of Ghana, Legon, is feared dead after falling from the 4th Floor of the Mensah Sarbah Hall Annex A building, according to the devastating news that has reached our desks.

According to a report by Radio Universe, a campus-based radio station, the student (Wahab Abdulai) is suspected of being an unauthorized hall resident. He perches a friend in the hall, that is.

He is said to have been a former resident of the hall, but he was now living there illegally because he had not enrolled as a resident.

Wahab is said to have jumped because he was afraid of getting shot by the hall officials.

According to eyewitness accounts, the recorded inhabitants of the room where Wahab was perched noticed a noisy knock on the door and mistook it for hall officials looking for unauthorised people.

“Until the presumed porters left, the survivor was told to hide in the balcony.

They heard a loud banging sound and ran to see what had happened, where they saw the boy lying on the ground floor,” said the eyewitness.

After undergoing first aid treatment at the Legon Hospital, the survivor was allegedly admitted to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

The event is said to have occurred at 2:00 a.m. on Friday, April 23rd, 2021.
